A GIF maker for photos, images and clips
Want a quick animated slideshow, a looping product shot, a reaction meme or a step-by-step tutorial? Select your images in the order you want (name them 01.jpg, 02.jpg… to control the order), choose how long each one stays on screen and click “Make GIF”. Because the frames are shown before the GIF is encoded, you can remove any you do not want and rebuild in a click.
Tips for better GIFs from photos
- Use images with the same size and orientation – other sizes are scaled to fit, with white bars filling any gaps.
- 0.2–0.5 s per frame works well for slideshows; 0.1 s gives a stop-motion feel.
- Choose “Boomerang” to make a short sequence loop smoothly back and forth.
- Keep the width at 480 px or below for chat apps and email.
Recommended GIF settings
A GIF stores every frame as a separate image with up to 256 colors, so size grows quickly with resolution and length. Use these starting points:
| Use case | Width | Frame rate | Length | Quality |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Reaction GIF for chat (Discord, Slack, WhatsApp) | 320–480 px | 10 fps | 2–5 s | Medium |
| Product demo or tutorial in docs / GitHub README | 640–800 px | 12–15 fps | 5–15 s | High |
| Email newsletter | 480–600 px | 8–10 fps | 3–6 s | Medium |
| Website banner or hero animation | 800 px | 12 fps | 3–8 s | High |
| Smallest possible file | 240 px | 5–8 fps | < 3 s | Small file |

GIF maker – FAQ
What is a GIF maker?
A GIF maker is a tool that turns a series of images or a video clip into an animated GIF – a small looping image that plays automatically in chats, social posts, emails and web pages without a play button.
How do I make a GIF from photos?
Click “Choose video” and select several JPG, PNG or WebP images at once (or drag them in). Choose a frame duration, width and other options, then click “Make GIF” and download it.
In what order are photos added to the GIF?
Images are ordered by file name. Rename them 01, 02, 03… to control the order, and remove frames you do not want in the frame strip.
Can I also make a GIF from a video?
Yes. Drop a video file instead of photos and you can trim it and pick the frame rate. For more video options see the video to GIF converter on the home page.
Is this GIF maker free? Is there a watermark?
Yes, it is 100% free with no watermark, no sign-up and no limit on how many GIFs you create.
Can I add text to a GIF?
Yes. Type in the “Caption text” box and the text is drawn in bold meme style at the bottom of every frame. You can change it and click “Rebuild GIF” without re-extracting frames.
Can I make a reverse or boomerang GIF?
Yes. Set Direction to “Reverse” to play backwards, or “Boomerang” to play forwards then backwards in a seamless loop.
Can I make a GIF that plays only once?
Yes. Set Loop to “Play once”. By default GIFs loop forever.
Can I make a GIF on my iPhone or Android phone?
Yes. Open this page on your phone, tap “Choose video”, pick photos or a clip from your gallery, make the GIF and tap “Share / Save to Photos” or “Download GIF”.
How do I send files from my phone to my computer?
On a computer, click “Upload from phone”. A QR code appears. Scan it with your phone camera, choose a video from your gallery, and it is transferred to the open page on your computer automatically – no cables, AirDrop, email or app needed. On a phone the button is hidden because you can simply pick the video directly.
Are my photos uploaded to your server?
No. Conversion happens entirely inside your browser on your own device, so your video never leaves your computer or phone. The only exception is the optional “Upload from phone” QR feature: the file you send is held temporarily so your computer can pick it up, and it is deleted as soon as it is received (anything left over is purged automatically within 24 hours).
How can I make my GIF file smaller?
Lower the width (320–480 px is ideal for chat), reduce the frame rate to 8–12 fps, shorten the clip, choose “Small file (64 colors)”, or remove frames you do not need in the key-frame strip and click “Rebuild GIF”. Width and length have the biggest effect on file size.
